Wesley Hopper
Personnel Manager
Wesley Aaron Hopper is the new personnel manager for the New Bedford Symphony relocating back to New England after living four years in Los Angeles. Before moving to L.A. in 2018, Wes spent 22 years freelancing, contracting and writing in NYC/New England. He was often found performing in many of the areas foremost organizations including the Boston Ballet, Boston Philharmonic, Boston Pops, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Albany Symphony, Symphony New Hampshire and dozens of others. He maintains an active travel regiment holding positions in South Florida and substitute positions with some of the world’s finest organizations including the Atlanta Symphony, the Alabama Symphony and the Utah Symphony. For many years he was a trombonist for the Four Tops and the Temptations throughout their East Coast Tours. He is a founding member of the Triton Brass, one of the country’s premier brass quintets. In addition to his strictly artistic endeavors, Wes finds himself often occupied with the business of music. He is an active arranger, orchestrator and copyist often in the employ of organizations including the Boston Symphony/POPs Orchestra, PBS and Warner Brothers or with artists such as Mandy Patinkin, Cindy Lauper, Diana Ross, the Chieftains and countless others. He is familiar with the inner working of musical organizations small and large. He served on the Board of Directors of the Lexington Symphony and was until 2019 the assistant personnel manager for Symphony New Hampshire; a role he has filled on countless musical services throughout the U.S.
An avid boater, Wes has sailed the Eastern seaboard and even lived on a classic Pacemaker yacht across the mighty Hudson from Manhattan. Back on land, he also enjoys off-roading, fast cars, cooking, BBQ, woodworking and quality time with his wife, Meg, and their children, Matty and Matilda. Current sailing conditions include the “land yacht” a 73 foot rolling earthquake that is a Monaco motor coach with car hauler/practice room/mobile office in tow!
