If accepted for a position with the orchestra, candidates must provide proof of their affiliation with the Boston Musicians’ Association (Local 9-535), or the Professional Musicians of the Southcoast (Local 216) if they live within their jurisdiction.

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is a per-service ensemble with a season consisting of approximately 30 regular services and a varying number of educational and outreach services. Base scale for the 2026-27 season is $147.17 (+ 5% pension contribution) per service with travel, cartage, per diem, doubling, etc., added when applicable. Applicants are required by federal law to demonstrate eligibility to accept employment if offered a position with the NBSO. The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is an Equal Opportunity Employer whose members benefit from a collective bargaining agreement with Locals 216 and 9-535 of the American Federation of Musicians.
